How to use Snowdrift in Plunderstorm

The greatest strength of Snowdrift in-game iconSnowdrift lies in its ability to control space and slow down multiple enemies at once. Let's learn how to best use this to our advantage!

How to use Snowdrift in Plunderstorm

In Plunderstorm, control is king - and no ability embodies this principle better than Snowdrift.

This glacial blockade is the ultimate zoning tool on the battlefield, a wintry wall of wind and ice that can slow multiple enemies to a crawl and lock down key areas with ease. But for all its raw crowd-controlling power, Snowdrift is not a skill to be used lightly - mastering this ability requires foresight, finesse, and a keen understanding of battlefield dynamics.

In this guide, we'll dig through the drifts and unearth the secrets of Snowdrift dominance, from stifling enemy movement to setting up wombo combos and everything in between.

Zoning and Crowd Control

When cast, the ability creates a fierce blizzard at a target location that periodically applies a stacking slow effect to all enemies within its 12 yard radius.

This slow is relatively short-lived, lasting only 4.5 seconds, but it can be repeatedly re-applied to enemies who linger within the blizzard. With each reapplication, the slow effect grows stronger, making it increasingly difficult for foes to navigate the storm.

The key to using Snowdrift effectively is to place it strategically to create zones of control on the battlefield. Look for choke points, narrow corridors, and high-traffic areas where enemies are likely to cluster together - dropping a Snowdrift in these locations can make it extremely difficult for foes to advance or retreat.

Duos tip

Snowdrift can be defensively to peel for your allies. If your partner is being chased by a group of enemies, drop a blizzard between them and their pursuers to slow the advance. You can then use the breathing room to reposition, heal up, or set up a counterattack.

Kiting and Evasion

In addition to its zoning capabilities, Snowdrift is also a powerful tool for kiting and evading enemy attacks. The slow effect makes it much easier to maintain distance from melee attackers, giving you more time to dish out damage or get off a quick Health Brew in-game iconHealth Brew.

Solos tip

Snowdrift is great to when trying to disengage from a losing fight, especially if paired with movement abilities such as Faeform in-game iconFaeform or Quaking Leap in-game iconQuaking Leap.

Snowdrift may not be the flashiest ability in your toolkit, but its zoning and kiting potential is not to be underestimated.

With proper positioning and timing, this chilling blizzard can single-handedly control the flow of a battle, turning a chaotic skirmish into a calculated game of cat and mouse.
