Practice your timing, coordinate with your allies, and get ready to shake up the battlefield in ways your enemies won't soon forget!

In this guide, we'll unearth the secrets of Quaking Leap dominance, from calculating your trajectories to syncing up with allies and everything in between.

Initiating and Burst

Quaking Leap's primary offensive use is as an initiating tool to start fights on your terms. The ability allows you to close distance rapidly, bypass frontline defenders, and land directly on top of priority targets like healers or ranged DPS.

When initiating with Quaking Leap, it's important to communicate your intentions clearly to your team. Let them know who you're targeting and when you're leaping in, so they can follow up with their own crowd control and burst damage. A well-coordinated Quaking Leap initiation can delete a squishy target before they have a chance to react.

In addition to its initiating power, the 0.75 second AoE stun from Quaking Leap can also be used to set up your own burst combos. Abilities like Searing Axe in-game iconSearing Axe and Star Bomb in-game iconStar Bomb have huge damage potential but can be difficult to land on moving targets. By stunning enemies with Quaking Leap first, you guarantee that your follow-up attacks will hit for maximum impact.

Solos tip

When soloing, Quaking Leap can be a great tool for taking out high-priority mobs quickly. If you're in a dungeon or raid and see a dangerous caster or archer hanging back from the main fight, use Quaking Leap to close the gap and stun them, then unload your burst. With the right timing, you can eliminate these threats before they have a chance to cause real problems. Quaking Leap can also be used to start your solo fights with a bang. If you're taking on a tough elite mob or rare spawn, open with a leap to stun them right off the bat. This will give you a few precious seconds to build up resources or apply DoTs before the real fight begins.

Duos tip

In duo play, Quaking Leap is an incredibly powerful tool for setting up coordinated burst. Have one player leap onto your chosen target, then have the other follow up immediately with their own stun or high-damage ability. This one-two punch can instantly delete squishy targets and swing fights heavily in your favor. When facing enemy duos, you can also use Quaking Leap to split them up and prevent them from supporting each other. Have one player leap onto the healer or ranged DPS, forcing them away from their frontline partner. Then focus all your efforts on bursting down the isolated target before their ally can peel for them.

Escaping and Repositioning

While Quaking Leap is a potent offensive tool, it's also one of the best mobility skills in the game for escaping danger and repositioning mid-fight. The long distance and quick travel time of the leap can get you out of sticky situations in a hurry, while the early recast option gives you fine control over your landing point.

When using Quaking Leap to escape, try to aim your leap towards safety - whether that's behind your team's frontline, into a nearby building or cave, or just in the opposite direction of the danger. Remember that you can recast the ability mid-leap to come down early if you see a better landing spot or need to juke an enemy ability.

In addition to escaping danger, Quaking Leap can also be used to quickly reposition for a better attack angle or to avoid dangerous ground effects. If you're fighting in a tight space and need to get behind your target, or if you see a big AoE about to go off under your feet, a quick leap can put you right where you need to be.

Solos tip

In solo play, Quaking Leap is your get-out-of-jail-free card when fights start to go south. If you pull too many mobs or start to get overwhelmed, leap away to safety and reset. You can also use the ability to kite dangerous melee mobs around obstacles or break their pathing entirely. When soloing elites or dungeon bosses, Quaking Leap can be used to great effect to avoid major mechanics. Most powerful enemies have some sort of big, telegraphed attack that you'll want to dodge - things like cone attacks, charge abilities, or ground AoEs. By saving your leap and timing it right, you can completely negate these abilities and make even the toughest fights much more manageable.

Duos tip

In duo situations, Quaking Leap can be a powerful peeling tool to help your partner escape danger. If your ally gets caught out of position or targeted by crowd control, leap to their location and stun their attackers to give them a chance to get away. You can also use Quaking Leap to set up positional advantages with your partner. If you're fighting in an enclosed space, have one player leap behind the enemy to set up a nasty flank with abilities like Searing Axe in-game iconSearing Axe or Storm Archon in-game iconStorm Archon. The stun from Quaking Leap will hold them in place long enough for your partner to get into position for the pincer attack.
